Announcing... my 11th book!

'We are the Champions' - co-authored with a former colleague Devendra Tak.

This book is about children. Who are not as privileged as ours. They hail from the interiors of Odisha and Jharkhand, Rajasthan and Haryana, as well as the slums of Mumbai and Delhi. Meeting them and hearing their stories was an intense experience.

Firstly I was disturbed on many fronts. Child marriage, child trafficking, child labour - we have laws against such practices. But in fact they are still very common. This invisible reality of our country made me both angry and sad.

But as you would know by now, I don’t write books which dissect problems. This one is no different. ‘We are the Champions’ has 15 stories of boys and girls who fought against the odds for a better future. And in doing so became role models and changemakers in their communities.

So it’s essentially a book about grit, gumption and hope.... the human in the ‘human development index’. I know for sure it touched me deeply to get to know these brave young people and I hope it moves you, as well.

'We are the Champions' essentially documents the work of Save the Children India but is written from the point of view of the children. My co-author Devendra Tak and I strongly feel these are powerful stories, which need to be heard.
