“There Is No Power For Change Greater Than A Community Discovering What It Cares About” – Margaret J Wheatley
Since Co-Liv’s beginnings, our founding members knew that organizations such as Co-Liv have to change with time. In 2017, when Co-Liv became a registered non-profit association in France, the deal was clear: Co-Liv’s director should change every two years.
Two years have passed since I came in. Between 2020 and 2022, Co-Liv grew from a European-based association to a global one, being represented by ambassadors in more than 30 countries, having hosted almost two hundred physical and virtual events, including two virtual Co-Liv Summits with more than thousand attendees in total.
As director of Co-Liv, it was an honor to work with some of the most talented and also ambitious people I’ve met: Christian Schmitz, Kristen Zupancic, Fabrice Simondi, Virginia Scapinelli, Nabeel Ayaz, Cate Maiolini, and dozens of other brilliant and heart-felt individuals, from our friends at SALTO Systems, Conscious Coliving, Coliving Insights, and of course, our community of partners and ambassadors.
And now, the wind of change has arrived, and it is time to bring a fresh breeze into the organization.?
While in the last years, we have been able to build a strong, international community through a wider variety of events, it is time to go back to the roots of what Co-Liv started as: a network for knowledge-sharing.?
In the last months, we managed to find ways that will ensure Co-Liv to host a variety of local events in the upcoming years, including an even stronger Co-Liv Summit with a partnership that we will announce in September as well.?
And hence, it is time to find someone who can steer Co-Liv towards an association that focuses on creating initiatives that foster knowledge-sharing: whether valuable research, publications, masterminds or work groups, focussing on sharing best practices and knowledge between coliving professionals is, as Margaret Wheatley put it, the power for change that Co-Liv can bring to the world.
In September 2022, Co-Liv will open up applications for a new director - someone with a project for that knowledge-sharing vision, who desires to activate our community even more and bring Co-Liv into its next chapter.
Here are some practical next steps for you to get involved:
My personal journey in coliving is not over - I will remain active on Co-Liv’s board, help Co-Liv grow through partnerships and bringing in the right people, be an active member of our community and support Co-Liv with all my heart. At the same time, I will focus on what I’m truly good at, namely helping operators and developers create strong communal experiences in their buildings.
It’s been an honor shaping this coliving journey, and I am sure that Co-Liv’s future is going to shine in new, unpredicted ways.
To a great future ahead, and thank you for this past journey,
Gui Perdrix
