Announcing IBM z/OS V2.5

Its always an exciting time when we launch a major deliverable on the Z platform, and so its with great pleasure that today we're able to formally announce the release of IBM z/OS V2.5 to help clients on their journey of digital transformation and hybrid cloud.?

This latest release, co-created by working with more than 60 clients and partners, has enabled tremendous innovation in supporting the development and deployment of cloud native and AI business applications, underpinned by next-level security and resilience. z/OS V2.5 offers an immense amount of valuable new functions and enhancements, including some that are also available on previous releases through the z/OS Continuous Delivery model.?

z/OS V2.5 is the first z/OS release to be delivered as a portable software instance. This delivery format enables an efficient and accelerated installation path using a common, simple, and guided process within z/OSMF without requiring extensive z/OS systems skill.?In fact, some customers in our Release Beta program have already been reporting a 30-50% faster installation time... a huge advantage in being able to unlock the value of z/OS V2.5 faster than ever before.

Once upgraded, clients can take advantage of specific new enhancements in areas like z/OS Container Extensions (zCX), transparent cloud tiering for storage, anomaly mitigation, enhanced cryptography, simplified and expanded Pervasive Encryption support, simplified software management including robust cloud and software provisioning, improvements for Tailored Fit Pricing and System Recovery Boost, and many many more.
