Announcing fully responsive *new* UI for "Local Time" Lightning Component

Local Time lightning component started as a hobby project out of massive excitement for developing something using Salesforce Lightning.

What business problem are we trying to solve ?

Core goal of this component is to easily show local time as per time zone of a given Lead, Contact or Account. 

First Release (April'15)

We delivered a simple text based clock component which was showing time. Initial feedback was good.

2nd Iteration (May'15)

Lightning experience was not there, and Salesforce customers were still on classic Salesforce page layouts. We were in huge pressure by customers to have the same in page layouts. We reused most of our Apex code, and ported rest of Lightning code to Visualforce for the same. We might be the first that way to port Lightning code into Visualforce :) 

3rd Major UX Change (June'15)

We were not liking the simple text clock, and opted a fancy Javascript and CSS based flip clock, which is auto updating time in a very lively way. Here is how it looked like in Account page layouts.

4th Iteration (Sept'15)

Weather was in our radar from starting, and we added support for the same in this iteration. Here is screenshot of the same in Salesforce 1 Lightning:

5th Iteration (Nov'15)

We got a quite running in Lightning component, but we are not settled on UX yet. We were searching ways to make this extensible to take it beyond time, weather etc. This iteration was biggest of all in terms of effort, and it required us to redo and reimagine the UX. We have plans to get more contextual data like tasks, events etc apart from time and weather in this app. A Card based model like "Google Now" was our source of inspiration here.

End result of the same was pretty satisfactory, and here are few screenshots of the same. 

So far its pretty pleasing to learn and explore lightning, hoping to deliver something even better in coming months.
