Announcing the Digital Excellence Programme

Get ready for the digital age.

Two future-facing new courses for senior civil servants in UK government are being launched in February 2023.

The Digital Excellence Programme is a world-first programme designed to equip whole civil services with the skills and knowledge to navigate 21st century challenges using data and digital technologies.

The first two courses developed for the DEP are launching in February: Building a Data Culture in Government and Building a Digital Culture in Government. They have been developed for?the Central Digital and Data Office, the UK Cabinet Office and Government Campus by Apolitical and 英国伦敦政治经济学院 , together with 安永 .

The Digital Excellence Programme delivers flexible and engaging module-based learning. These two courses have been designed specifically for senior civil servants in UK central government. They deliver a strong foundation for a wider programme focussed on transforming to a digital culture in government - by building a community of senior leaders genuinely invested in developing their digital and data skills over the long term.

Digital and data are the future of UK governance

The Civil Service needs senior leaders who feel confident about directing large teams using data to understand problems and digital to deliver policy and services.

The UK Government’s most senior political and official leaders recognise the potential of digital and data to transform the effectiveness and efficiency of the state. So they’re putting real resources into making this happen. And CDDO has made a strategic commitment to upskill 90% of senior civil servants on digital, data and technology skills essentials in the same period.

Why the DEP is so powerful: cutting edge and contextual

  • Apolitical’s approach to learning design means the DEP courses are rooted in the specifics of the current Civil Service context. Both courses include re-usable resources to help learners reinforce key ideas and apply them to their departmental context.?
  • Peer-to-peer social learning is facilitated through live masterclasses with experts, private discussion boards, and lively virtual classroom sessions.?
  • Both courses give senior civil servants a thought-provoking but practical learning experience. Online and self-paced courses, accelerated through community building.
