Announcing the Awards Shortlist + Ceremony host
One World Media
Supporting journalists and filmmakers tell stories in the global south
And here it is!
These are the Awards Nominees for 2024. Our judges have looked through entries and it has been tough to select just three entries from so many incredible ones. But the judges?looked at criteria like relevance, substance and impact to arrive at a decision.?
Plus, we're so proud to welcome, Adjoa Andoh as our Awards host this year.?British actor and refugee campaigner Adjoa Andoh, who plays Lady Danbury in the hit Netflix show, Bridgerton, will host this year’s OWM Annual Awards ceremony.
Adjoa says, “I’m really proud to be hosting the One World Media Awards this year. Freedom of the press is fundamental to any successfully functioning democracy. My journalist father found out to his cost what can happen in a country whose government wants to curb those journalistic freedoms, having to flee Ghana in the late 1950s. So, it is an honour to be able to celebrate the courageous work of journalists and news gathering teams as they shine a light on our world, determined to keep us informed, telling the truth as they witness it, and sharing that truth with us.”
This year's Shortlist reflects a rich range of topics, people and places, across categories like Environmental Reporting, Women’s Solutions, Refugee Reporting and Press Freedom. We're proud to bring these stories to a wider,?global audience.?
