Announcing 3 new members of Maven’s Board of Directors

Some of the best advice I have ever received as a founder has been to surround myself with people from whom I can learn. And so I am delighted that during this next phase of our journey, fresh off our Series E fundraising announcement, three exceptional leaders — Jennifer Schneider, M.D., M. S. , Chris Klomp , and Yvette Bright — are joining Maven’s Board of Directors as independent members. They are joining alongside Rachel Winokur , who has been an incredible independent Board member and friend throughout the last six years, and set a high bar for whomever else would join us. Now, three-quarters of Maven’s directors and board observers are women, which is unfortunately not the norm in the business world but is representative of the change we hope to drive over time with our platform.?

Jenny, Chris, and Yvette are each spectacularly accomplished people in their own right, but they are especially right for Maven because each of them cares so deeply about our mission to improve access to quality care for women and families everywhere. They know from their own experiences how far we still need to go to create a system that shows up for every person with compassion and with the right support at the right time, and they are already rolling up their sleeves to help Maven build that future.?

In addition to their shared passion for our mission, each of them also brings a unique set of skills that makes them absolutely perfect for Maven.?

Jenny Schneider is a fearless healthcare leader and visionary founder. She has played a definitive role in building patient-focused, outcomes-oriented digital health companies, first as Chief Medical Officer at Castlight Health, then as Chief Medical Officer and President at Livongo, and now as co-founder and CEO of Homeward, which is rapidly resetting the care paradigm for rural healthcare in the United States. I have looked up to her, benefited from her candid counsel over the last 5 years, and feel deeply grateful now to formalize her role as a member of Maven’s board. You can learn more about Jenny and her vision for Maven in this Q&A she did with my team.

Chris Klomp is an incredibly brilliant, kind, mission-driven entrepreneur and investor. He was the co-founder and CEO of Collective Medical, acquired in 2020 by PointClickCare — a hugely impactful care enablement platform that today supports half the patients in the United States, including some of the most vulnerable in our communities. He is humble, hard working, and understands what it takes to build a data-driven healthcare company that still beats with a human heart. You can hear in his own words what brought him to Maven here.

Yvette Bright is a legendary changemaker who spent 30 years at Independence Blue Cross (IBX) in Philadelphia. By the time she retired as COO, she helmed both their Commercial and Medicare lines of business, representing $6 billion in annual revenues, and was both the first woman and first person of color with such responsibilities. She has since transitioned to the boards of IBX as well as a range of companies — Cityblock Health, National Life Group, CSAA Insurance Group (AAA affiliate), and Myers Industries — that speak both to her enormous depth of expertise and her boundless curiosity and enthusiasm for learning. You can hear more about her in this piece.

I say often that I feel Maven is still in its very early days, with so much to build and do for our members, our providers, and our partners. I feel confident because of the incredible team we have - and I am grateful to Jenny, Chris, and Yvette for joining us.?
