I could have been a gas station attendant

My wife and I are going to celebrate our 34th wedding anniversary next week.In tribute to our years together I thought the following story would be appropriate.

The Mayor of Chicago and his wife , stopped at gas station to fill up.This was years ago When gas stations still had a  attendant to pump the gas..After telling the attendant to fill the car up , The Mayor got out of the car and went into the attached store to buy a cup of coffee.
When he returned to the car , he noticed his wife was out of the car having a conversation with the gas station attendant.As he got back in the car , his wife said goodbye to the attendant and gave him a hug , and  got back in the car.
As they drove home the Mayor asked his wife how she knew the gas station attendant. "I went to school with him "she said.

"Did you know him well'? the Mayor asked

"I used to date him" she said " As a matter of fact , I almost married him"she added .

The Mayor always the prideful man, replied "just think if you would have married him you would have ended up married to a gas station attendant , not the Mayor of Chicago.
"That's not the way I see it"she said ."If I would have married him, He would have been the Mayor of Chicago , and you would have been a gas station attendant"

I tell the story of the Mayor of Chicago because it is in too many ways ,my story.
I have not held vaunted positions like a big city Mayor , but I have had some success, and to that I owe  to my wife.
She saw me as better than I thought I was, she saw my potential when others saw my weaknesses, she saw my stars and ignored my scars.She believed in me , when I didn't ,

None of us make it alone .None of us are self made .We all have others who have pushed , molded and helped us.Be grateful to them.Recognize the role they have played in your life ,and treat them accordingly.
P.S I always say to others ,that if my wife ever leaves me ....... I am going with her .
