Anniversaries, Awards, and Appreciation

NB: Out of an embarrassment of riches, we’re breaking a longstanding communications standard by burying (ok, subordinating) a few headlines.

OCTOBER MARKS THE GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY OF NORTH CHARLES

Admittedly, we haven’t done exhaustive research, but we’re fairly certain the designation places us atop longevity lists among firms who make a specialty in education—and among agencies located in Baltimore.

We couldn’t celebrate our 50th without sending heartfelt gratitude to company founders Bernice and Armand Thieblot, who launched the company in 1972 in a tiny office most easily accessed through MacGillivray’s Drug Store at the corner of West Read and North Charles streets. (To set the record straight: The company has never been located ON North Charles Street. Physician: heal thyself.)

So for however long you’ve been at this—in higher ed or in Baltimore—chances are we’ve been at it longer.

Gold in our golden anniversary year? How did they know?

What’s made the award especially sweet is sharing it with our exceptional partners at HWS. Our work with the Colleges goes back 40+ (nonconsecutive) years—and includes a circa 1989 Grand Gold for HWS for Student Recruitment Publication Packages, CASE’s big kahuna category in the day.

It bears mentioning that CASE recognition?is especially meaningful for its criteria focused on results; it’s not just another beauty pageant. That the HWS work is stunning is icing.

The project was comprehensive, and included:?

  • Website strategy, IA plan, design, content, and development consulting with the?Colleges’ third-party CMS provider
  • Student recruitment communications strategy and creative (digital and print)
  • Brand and visual identity standards
  • Strategy?and creative for video (executed?brilliantly by the HWS Communications team) to support donor cultivation
  • Hobart Bicentennial identity

More gratitude here—to Cathy Williams, Gina Kane, Michael DiMauro, Kevin Colton, and the entire HWS Communications team for their brilliant partnership and wisdom?throughout the project. Pros all.

WE’VE NEVER GROWN TIRED OF THE GOLD

This year’s recognition for our HWS project joins a long and growing line of NC-partner CASE Gold recipients. Since celebrating our 30th anniversary, Barnard College, Colby College, St. John's College, Swarthmore College, Tulane University, the University of Chicago, and Widener University have also worn the mantle.

THE HWS WEBSITE AND VIEWBOOK EARNED CASE SILVER AWARDS IN THEIR RESPECTIVE CATEGORIES

In most years, this would have been Headline 1.

2022 IS HOBART COLLEGE’S BICENTENNIAL

Coincidence? Serendipity? Joyful convergence?

Finally: to all of the North Charlesers who have, across the past 50 years, contributed to this unsurpassed success and truly noteworthy landmark, thank you.
