ANNE FRANK EXHIBIT SANDY SPRINGS, GEORGIA
Gary Alexander
Managing Director of the Alexander Investment Group at Wells Fargo Advisors
My name is Gary Alexander and I serve as the Vice-Chairman of the Georgia Commission on the Holocaust. I was asked by the Mayor and Council of Sandy Springs, to bring the Anne Frank Exhibit to our City in 2008. The exhibit has been very successful, bringing in 7,000- 8,000 tourists and students each year. Our lease has run out and now it is time to move too a fabulous new location on the City Campus.
The Georgia Commission on the Holocaust has been working closely with the City of Sandy Springs City Council, City Manager and Mayor for over two years to bring the terrific Anne Frank Project to fruition. At the next City Council meeting, t Tuesday, May 4th at 6:00 pm, EST, the City will allow public comments on the project. Unfortunately, at the end of the last City Council meeting one of the City Council members, who doesn't support the project, provided talking points to approximately 20 of her friends and neighbors who came to the meeting and spoke out against the initiative which gave the impression that Sandy Springs citizens do not support this wonderful project. The reality is that this project has enthusiastic support...as witnessed by over $3 million in donations and pledges already.
We need you and as many people as you can enlist to show support for the project. Council members need to see overwhelming public support.
