Anisoprint Digest November 2022 Edition
?? Hello and welcome back!
This is the latest issue of our monthly Anisoprint Digest, your one-stop shop to stay up-to-date with the latest happenings in the exciting world of Anisoprinting! And here we go... ??
?
TL;DR ??
???
We made it! Our R&D team arrived at JUB's campus! ??
Our partnership with Jacobs University Bremen is off to a great start this academic year! We are happy to share that our R&D team has now arrived in Bremen! In our own 3D printing lab at the campus, we'll start to work on exciting projects, like:
??? Testing new plastics and fibers
?? Enhancing the binder formulation
?? Carbon fiber impregnation with resins and thermoplastic polymers
?? Researching physical-chemical and mechanical properties of plastics used in printing and composite material
?
Fabbaloo 's?founder? Kerry Stevenson ?observes: "As of September, Anisoprint’s R&D activities are taking place at the university. I am not aware of any other 3D printer manufacturer taking this step. (...) This allows the company to expose their advanced technology to students, who might carry that knowledge forward into companies they work for in the future. That may enhance Anisoprint’s future sales, so that’s a good move."

?? Metal vs. Composites: What's the future of Material Design??
What materials will have the most impact on future designs? What does the future hold for metals? We know that metals are not optimal for design and will eventually become obsolete.?
??? By looking to nature for guidance, we can see that there is a huge strength potential in fibrous materials, and one such instance is carbon fiber-reinforced polymer.
?Our CEO, Fedor Antonov looks at the current state of design and explores how nature teaches us about building structures that can be more efficient, both environmentally and economically!?

?? A recognition for outstanding performance!
Our participation in the first global Startup Support Programme dedicated to space resources has made us officially ESRIC Alumni a few months ago. During the active selection process, we've had the chance to work on much more than our key project - composite fiber 3D printing for microgravity conditions. We also signed an MoU with Nanoracks, and pitched our project live at Space Resources Week in Luxembourg.?
And now, Dmitrii Prokopiuk, our Head of Space Development, has been awarded during?NewSpace Europe?for outstanding participation in the incubator programme led by?European Space Resources Innovation Centre (ESRIC)!

??Drawing design cues from nature: Designing for biomimetic composites
??? Anisotropic materials are not rare in nature, did you know? That's why Grace Nehls , the Managing Editor of "Composites World" decided to create a must-read feature article on Biomimicry:?designing for biomimetic composites.
Biomimicry is an interdisciplinary methodology that can inform composites design and manufacturing via use of more effective and sustainable materials, structural fabrication and technological practices.
Grace presents case studies that highlight how biomimicry is being applied to composite materials design. For her article, she interviewed a number of well-known industry experts. Among them is also our CEO Fedor Antonov, who shares his insight and developments in this space.
