Animation Tip - Arnold lighting for your scenes

I had a request for Maya lighting/rendering tips, so here we go!

When rendering with Arnold, the first thing you might notice is how dark everything is. Arnold uses quadratic decay for most lights (except directional) instead of no decay as the default with mental ray. Instead of cranking up the intensity, go to the Arnold tab in the attribute editor of your light, and turn the exposure up (for me usually something like 17.0 for point lights). This will allow you to adjust the intensity later with a 0 to 1 float that is easy to remember.

Hope this helps! More lighting/rendering tips to come.
