?? Aviagen Announces New Regional Technical Manager: Jorge Amado to replace Mario Assayag, who is transitioning to a new role starting in March. Aviagen? Latin America announces Jorge Amado as the company's new Regional Technical Manager (RTM), effective March 1st. Amado joined Aviagen in 2012 as Technical Services Manager and, since 2018, has held the position of Senior Technical Services Manager responsible for Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean (CAME), providing high-performance work to Ross? customers in the regions. Amado will replace Mario Sérgio Assayag, who is currently transitioning to a new role with the Global Veterinary Team starting in March. In addition to his responsibilities as head of the CAME region, Amado will also focus on strengthening customer success throughout Latin America. He will report indirectly to Ivan Lauandos, President of Aviagen Latin America, with reference to bird performance. About Jorge Amado: Amado has a degree in Veterinary Medicine from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). He has over 20 years of experience in the poultry industry, including roles in technical services, sales and marketing. ?? Argentine Luis Barcos Runs for OIE Director General. For the first time in 100 years, this position at the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) may not be held by a French representative. It is worth noting that in all these years (almost 100), the OIE's Directorate General has been held by representatives of French origin, although its statutes logically allow for this possibility to be open to other countries. Foreign Minister Diana Mondino received Dr. Luis Barcos, the Argentine candidate for the position of Director General of the OIE, in the elections that will take place next May in Paris, France. MSD and FVE Select 7 Spanish Veterinary Students Among 2023 Scholarship Winners: MSD Animal Health and the Federation of Veterinarians of Europe (FVE) have announced the 68 veterinary students who have received the 2023 Veterinary Student Scholarship Program, including 7 Spanish students from Córdoba, León, Valencia and Madrid. The scholarships are for students enrolled in the 3rd, 4th and 5th year and allow them to improve their academic experience and eventually start their careers. Each scholarship is worth 2,500 US dollars (2,292 euros). The scholarships are awarded based on the following criteria: Academic merit, Financial need, geographical diversity. ?? Zoetis Chile: Last Thursday, March 7, at the intercontinental hotel in Santiago, the official Launch of Librela and Solensia took place. This is a very significant milestone in animal health in Chile with the launch of this monoclonal antibody for the relief of osteoarthritis pain in dogs and cats. The North American multinational animal health company has purchased 45,000 m2 of land from the Espu?a meat company for an estimated amount of five million euros, according to the average price per square meter in the area, as revealed by Expansión. It is a plot close to its facilities and the objective, the newspaper points out, is to expand its current facilities although little else is known, at the moment, about the project.
