Elanco Animal Health Reports Fourth Quarter and Full Year 2021 Results: Full year 2021 revenue was $4,765 million, an increase of 46 percent, including $1,311 million of incremental revenue from Bayer Animal Health products in 2021. Full year 2021 earnings per share (EPS) was $(0.97) (reported), or $1.05 (adjusted). Significant innovation progress in 2022: Innovation revenue expected to contribute $120 to $160 million; expect 7 approvals and launches and 5 to 7 regulatory submissions in major markets, including up to two differentiated pet health potential blockbusters (Business wire).
?? On Feb. 22, GO Topeka, an economic development group, announced it has selected 12 pet health and agriculture technology companies for Plug and Play Topeka’s third cohort. The accelerator program helps startups from around the world by fostering partnerships, mentorships and other connections. Plug and Play Topeka’s third cohort consists of startups from the United States, Israel, Italy, Spain, Chile and the United Kingdom. The companies were selected by the accelerator program’s partners Cargill, Evergy and Hill’s Pet Nutrition after a virtual pitch competition held earlier in February. (petfoodprocessing.net).

EU Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health announced that the Committee for Medicinal Products for Veterinary Use (CVMP) of the European Medicines Agency adopted by majority a positive opinion for the authorization of RenuTend (tenogenic primed equine allogeneic peripheral blood-derived mesenchymal stem cells). The injectable therapy is designed to improve healing of injuries of tendons and suspensory ligaments in horses. Boehringer acquired Belgian start-up Global Stem cell Technology (GST) in August 2020. ?? MSD Animal Health Brazil grows with pets and livestock innovations: Company achieves revenue of 1.45 billion reais in 2021, 30% more than in 2020, with acquisitions and new product lines. Expectations for 2022 remain positive. MSD Saúde Animal, has been taking advantage of the good results of the pet market, which grew 30% in the country in the last two years, and of sectors such as livestock and swine, both in expansion. The company recorded a growth of around 30% in 2021, reaching a turnover of 1.45 billion reais. (Exame, 16/02/2022).

NITA-FARM the leading Russian developer and manufacturer of innovative professional veterinary medications, leader with the market of the post-Soviet states among the manufacturers of chemotherapeutic drugs for farm animals, will distribute veterinary products from Agener Uni?o for large animals in Russia. Uniao Quimica recently signed the distribution agreement with the Russian company for the entire territory of that country (Valor Económico, 27 de Febrero).

?? Updating agreement for professionals from Mexico and Uruguay in Animal Health. Collaboration agreement concluded between CUCBA and the University of the Republic of Uruguay with the support of the governments of both countries. At least 150 researchers, poultry producers, government officials, members of civil society, including 40 academics and 60 students from the University Center for Biological and Agricultural Sciences (CUCBA) of the University of Guadalajara (UdeG), have benefited from the collaboration agreement that this campus made with the University of the Republic of Uruguay (UDELAR).

Vetanco, together with the National University of La Plata (Argentina), presented a technical paper on the effect of supplying hemicellulases and Aspergillus oryzae spores in animals, producing an increase in milk production of 7.6% (29.6 vs. 27. 5) during the first 150 days of lactation, in multiparous dairy cows under grazing conditions with supplementation in the room. The animal health giant Virbac is beefing up its vaccine production: The French pharmaceutical laboratory, which is breaking growth records and passing the billion euro turnover mark, is investing in a global center of excellence in biology on its Nice site. Target for 2026 for Virbac. Located in the industrial zone of Carros, near Nice, the animal health company is investing more than 50 million euros in the construction of a building intended to produce, by the end of 2026, more than 50 million vials of vaccines intended for animals. The takeover will allow the German company to position itself as a global player in the European region. (GlobalPets); EU Assisi Pet Care announced it has acquired Polish dog treat producer Maced.(GlobalPets); EU Voff Premium Pet Food announced the acquisition of Aristo Oy, a Finnish manufacturer of natural chews and treats.
