The FDA announced that it has launched the Animal and Veterinary Innovation Agenda (AVIA) as a way to modernize the way the FDA evaluates and supports the development of innovative animal and veterinary products. The guidelines break for a list of 4 objectives and details that will support actions by the Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM) to strengthen product development and put into place smart, risk-based approaches as a way to regulate modern animal and veterinary products. The FDA is planning to go through its animal and veterinary product review programs and projects to reassess and adjust them as needed to account for the diversity of developed products using innovative technologies. ?? Zoetis Argentina is making strides in the local market, bringing innovations related to pain management and its line of antiparasitic products for companion animals. In the case of biologics, the Vanguard line focuses on disease prevention, with full support from its technical team. Additionally, in the realm of antiparasitic products, there is the presence of Simparica. Furthermore, Zoetis is also expanding its presence in other market segments such as dermatology and diagnostics. ?? Elanco Saúde Animal is launching Elancovets, a relationship and support program aimed at veterinarians specializing in small animals (pets). This program offers technical content, online training, participation in events, technical visits from representatives, innovative products, and a range of services designed to add value to the work of veterinarians and to the management of their businesses, whether they are independent professionals or part of clinics and veterinary hospitals. According to the latest survey by the Pet Animal Commission of the National Union of Animal Health Product Industries (Comac) - Comac 2022 Annual Report - there are more than 47,000 establishments currently providing veterinary healthcare services in Brazil. The report states that "between 2017 and 2022, there was a strong expansion in the number of specialized hospitals, with more than double the units, and clinics saw significant growth of 78%. ?? Walmart announced the opening of a dedicated pet services center in a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia, offering veterinarian visits and dog grooming appointments. The first-of-its-kind center will have its own dedicated entrance next to a store and will carry the Walmart name; but will be staffed by employees of PetIQ, which rents space for vet clinics inside more than 65 Walmart stores. The Georgia location will serve as a pilot, but Walmart plans to open more locations. (CNBC)

?? CDV Argentina, is making progress in the construction of its new veterinary vaccine plant in Argentina. This plant, which has already begun construction, will meet the highest international standards of quality and sustainability. Given the imminent increase in global food demand, there is a growing need to improve the sustainable use of natural resources, such as veterinary vaccines. This new plant is being developed in conjunction with two other facilities that are being refurbished. All of them will comply with the requirements set by the international classification of world-class manufacturing for the production of animal vaccines. MSD Animal Health, a division of Merck & Co. announces that the European Commission has approved INNOVAX-ILT-IBD, a trivalent vector vaccine that provides long-term protection against infectious laryngotracheitis (ILT), infectious bursal disease (IBD), and Marek's disease (MD) in Spain. Building on the protective legacy of MSD Animal Health offered by INNOVAX-ILT, INNOVAX-ILT-IBD features two ILT glycoprotein inserts instead of one. Furthermore, clinical trial data shows that INNOVAX-ILT-IBD has an early onset and long-lasting immunity. INNOVAX-ILT-IBD is the first and only vaccine approved in the European Union to provide combined protection against the development of ILT, IBD, and MD in a single injection. This approval follows a positive opinion from the Committee for Veterinary Medicinal Products (CVMP) received in April 2023. (interempresas.net, Sept.).

GERMANY Zoetis Inc. announced it has acquired 100% of the shares of German biotech company adivo GmbH. adivo, which spun off from MorphoSys AG in 2018, develops animal-specific therapeutic antibodies using two patent-protected technology platforms. ?? Norbrook Laboratories Ltd. have appointed Italian Andrea Iucci, formerly Senior Vice President and Corporate Office, EMEA in IDEXX, as the firm’s new CEO. He will take over from the current CEO, Liam Nagle, who will step down at the end of the year. Mr Nagle, who joined the firm in 2015, will remain as Chairman.
