Corporate pushback against climate action is getting desperate
As climate action has become more widespread and more rigorous?–?moving from university endowments and pension funds to globally systemic financial institutions?–?the pushback has become more desperate.
Fossil-friendly politicians now decry sensible corporate transition planning as “woke capitalism,” as if the basic economic realities of climate risk were just a point of view, not something rooted in the global scientific consensus and hard-nosed economic analysis.

It seems every month we’re reminded that our infrastructure is no match for climate change. This month, we’ve had two examples: Hurricane Fiona, which knocked out the entire grid in Puerto Rico, and now Hurricane Ian, which plowed into Florida as a Category 4 monster on Wednesday. King Charles III decides not to attend climate summit
King Charles III has decided not to attend the international climate change summit in Egypt next month, fueling speculation that the new monarch will have to rein in his environmental activism now that he has ascended the throne.
The Sunday Times newspaper reported that the decision came after Conservative Prime Minister Liz Truss objected to Charles attending the conference, known as COP27, when she met with the king last month at Buckingham Palace. More...
