Anger Management (Part -1)
First bow to my Gurudev
?????-?????????? ???????? ??? ??????

Akhanda-mandalakaram vyaptam yena caracaram
Tatpadam darshitam yena tasmai shri gurave namah ?
I bow down to the elemental form of that God who is the unbroken form in the universe, who appears within me and gives me the vision of enlightenment. Which is unbroken, which is included in this entire universe, which is wavering in the variable and the constant. I bow to the supreme form of that Lord who appears within me and shows me the true knowledge of self. I pay my full respect to that element in the form of Guru, the same Guru is the absolute supreme element. I pay my respects to such a supreme Guru.
Origin of Anger
Lets Understand the origin of Anger from the verse of Bhagavad Gita.
Verse:
**??????? ???????????: ???????????????? |
??????????????? ???: ???????????????????? || 2.62||
dhyāyato vi?hayān pu?sa? sa?gas te?hūpajāyate
sa?gāt sa?jāyate kāma? kāmāt krodho ’bhijāyate.
Translation:
"While contemplating on the objects of the senses, one develops attachment to them. Attachment leads to desire, and from desire arises anger."
Analysis of the Verse
According to the Bhagavad Gita and Yoga philosophy, anger arises from attachment and desires. When we constantly think about an object or event, attachment develops, leading to desires. If these desires are unfulfilled, anger arises.
Anger: Eastern and Western Perspectives
Eastern Perspective:
- Attachment and Desire: Anger originates from attachment and unfulfilled desires.
- Five Koshas : In yoga philosophy, people are more than simply physical bodies; they have five koshas (layers).

- Annamaya Kosha: The physical body.
- Pranamaya Kosha: The energy body, where imbalances and stress affect the flow of prana (life force energy).
- Manomaya Kosha: The mental body, where anger originates.
- Vijnanamaya Kosha: The wisdom body.
- Anandamaya Kosha: The bliss body.
- Imbalance and Stress: Anger is seen as an imbalance affecting the Pranamaya Kosha, disrupting the flow of prana.
- Transformation: Yoga aims to bring balance and harmony to the koshas, transforming negative emotions into positive qualities through sublimation rather than suppression.
Western Perspective:
- Emotional State: Anger is seen as a strong and intense emotional state in response to perceived provocation, threat, or hurt.
- Negative Emotions: Along with greed, jealousy, and hatred, anger is a significant challenge in modern society.
- Impact: Affects various aspects of life, including education, health, and social relationships.
- Health Issues: Associated with stress and can trigger physical and mental health issues such as hypertension, anxiety, other non-communicable diseases (NCDs), and even cancer.
Comprehensive Understanding
Anger is a powerful and intense emotional state that affects individuals on multiple levels, including physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
Yoga Philosophy on Anger Management:
- Balance and Harmony: The ultimate goal of yoga is to bring balance and harmony to the koshas, transforming negative emotions.
- Sublimation of Emotions: Instead of suppressing emotions, yoga practices aim to sublimate them, turning anger and other negative states into positive qualities.
- Practical Techniques: Yoga offers practical techniques, including asanas (postures), pranayama (breathing exercises), and meditation, to manage and transform anger.
By understanding the root causes of anger and applying yoga practices, we can effectively manage this powerful emotion, leading to improved overall well-being.

9 个月Interesting perspective. Anger is often labeled as "toxic" and as such it is socially often rejected. From my perspective, it can be both - good or bad. It can propel us to action and setting better boundaries, on the other hand it can turn into emotional pattern. It is important to realise, that anger is basically coping secondary emotion and it has its layers and deep meaning.
