On Angels and Valentines
So, on December 7, I broke my right leg real good (tibial plateau T3) riding my moto in Penrose, Colorado. I'm very happy to report that I am healing extremely well ahead of schedule. That said, I am still on crutches as the bone solidifies and my muscles gain strength. I expect my doctor's clearance to officially ditch the sticks on February 27. I am very much on the home stretch, which is a far (far) cry from where I was, and that makes me really happy.
Very much ready to get back to business, today I ventured out on my own to attend a full day of real estate classes in the Denver Tech Center. The overwhelming help I received, all day, from complete strangers both floored and touched me. This post is to give thanks to the long list of angels who made today possible ... and to remind every one of us that as crazy as we think the world is, it really is filled with amazingly beautiful people.
Deep thanks, to all who are one.
Here goes ...
1. Roxanne, the receptionist who patiently opened the suite door every single time I had to get to and from the bathroom.
2. Raul, the classmate who volunteered to make me snack plates and carried them to my seating area.
3. Helen, another classmate, who kindly and patiently got paper towels to clean up my ice-pack bag that was, unbeknownst to me, leaking all over the damn table.
4. Roxanne, the receptionist who had already done enough but also helped me stuff my backpack with class materials and then volunteered to drive me to the closest light rail station.
5. Nice Light Rail Man #1 who showed me how to buy a ticket, and pointed out at which platform I needed to stand to get downtown.
6. Nice Light Rail Man #2 (whose name I later learned was George) who kindly agreed to carry my crutches aboard so that I could pull myself up three steep train stairs using the handrails in the 25 seconds I had before the train sped off again.
7. Nice Light Rail Man #3, who I randomly ended up standing next to, who acted as a human hand rail, firmly holding my right arm as the trail sped off to its next station and kept me from falling flat on my face.
8. Nice Light Rail Man #4 who saw my situation and immediately offered me his seat on the completely full train (which I accepted, very gratefully, and lumbered into at the first stop).
9. Nice Light Rail Lady who, speaking loudly from across the train, explained the transfers I needed to take to get to my final destination.
10. Back to George (AKA Nice Man #2) who, in cooperation with Nice Man #3, saw that I was in over my head and didn't know it, and agreed to stay with me until I disembarked safely from whatever station I needed ... and did.
I arrived in the heart of downtown Denver safely, in February, sometime around 7pm in thick snow, ice and darkness.
But it wasn't dark at all. It was immensely bright due to a multitude of angels who were exceedingly generous and kind to me, all day.
Happy Valentine's Day everyone. Go out and make the world a wonderful place, in big and small ways. It really is the whole point of the holiday.
