BIRMINGHAM, UK – On May 1st, days before Birmingham’s first Mayoral election, Sikh Channel welcomed Andy Street for an interview. The Mayoral election is on the 4th of May and Andy Street is the Conservative candidate. Mr Street sat down with D.S. Bal, the Director of Sikh Channel for an in-depth discussion about Mr Street’s vision for the future of Birmingham.

Mr Street stepped down from his role as Managing Director of John Lewis in order to pursuit his political ambitions. In this interview Mr Street revealed he has been very involved in the Sikh Community and understands the key role that Sikhs play in the wider community.

“I have seen this principle of Seva (service for your community and the less fortunate) coming through everything” said Andy Street. “I do really get how the Sikh Community, in a sense, embodies the community I want to build across the whole of the West Midlands.”

Mr Street shared a lot in this interview and showed that he understood the concerns of the electorate.

About Mr Street and the election D.S. Bal said, “Andy Street is a knowledgeable man who has shown his capacity for success at John Lewis. If successful, we hope Andy can bring the same success for Birmingham. Regardless of who wins, all we (Sikh Channel) want is for the community to prosper.”
