In the past Apple was synonymous with breaking the status quo, questioning norms and accepted standards to propel us to new, unchartered territories.
The iPod.
The iPhone.
The iPad.
Maybe even the Apple Watch.
Apple was not the first MP3 player out there but they recreated it into something that's easy to use and manage for the non-geek users.
Apple didn't have the first smartphone. They recreated it though in a way that made it super easy to use and manage in a very elegant and practical way.
In that order.
For years, it was a choice between stability and reliability VS the open Android system where you find an app that changes every last thing about your phone without jailbreaking it.
I've been switching from Android to iPhone and back again. Each time promising that this time I had finally reached the promised land.
Nowadays, a premium iPhone or Android is getting more similar that it comes down to smaller differences in style and operating systems.
When I went into a cellphone store recently and asked to know the difference between the new and old iphone, they had to struggle.
There's no physical home button.
Who cares?
It looks a little nicer, perhaps. But you are not getting married to it. It's your phone. Perhaps we've all lost our minds.
Oh, and the Apple Ear Pods. Don't get me started. They are great earphones but seriously$159?? There are better options for wireless earbuds.
Bring back the old days of extreme innovation.
Bring back the old days of completely turning an industry upside down.
Bring back the old days of anticipation for what Apple will create next.
Bring back Steve Jobs.
