All right, I like to live dangerously.
But I've got this Pixel 3 (which, incidentally, I love) and they made the beta announcement in about 20 of the feeds in my various accounts and I was intrigued. Especially since it can only go on the Pixel line of phones at this point.
Anyway, there were lots of promises as to the advancements coming in this version of the OS and I have to say...
Right On #Google, this OS is already an improvement!
I can say right off the bay that it is faster than Pie by a noticeable amount which is saying something considering the phone is currently the newest one on offer. Everything feels smoother and more [polished. More complete and refined. Not doing it justice but you get my point.
There are some of the Beta hangups which are totally to be expected.
For instance, apps keep crashing that I haven't even opened. The Starbucks app made the OS throw up about 50 crash dialog boxes until I went into the settings for the app and hit force stop to kill whatever process was causing the errors.
This happens fairly regularly with other apps running things in the background but that's to be expected with the change of architecture in the programming and will be resolved by the app publishers once Q gets near to release.
Another would be not being able to toggle dark mode but features are sometime disabled in a beta if the feature is causing a conflict with another process in the system. No big deal.
Anyway, all my apps still run nicely and a faster in some cases. None of them have been unusable so nothing to worry about at this point if you are thinking about it.
If you have any questions about it, send me a message and I can and will help!
