Very simply...because I used to do SEO.

I don't have any bias towards Ads, I only have a bias for what works.

If doing no online marketing and just networking was the best thing... I'd be talking about that. But Google ads (with the right elements combined) just gets the best results in my experience.

First, you’re are gambling with time. You have to input a lot of effort into creating repeated high-quality content for a certain few keywords. 

Then you have to hope that as time goes by, that page makes it to the first page of google.  

And if it doesn’t make it to the first page..all that work was a wasted effort. No two ways about it.

The search volume in your area for that term may be so low that even if you're at the top, very few people even see your listing on google and go to your site, and therefore you still don’t get any new consults from it.

And that’s a tough lesson, just because you’re visible on google doesn’t mean you will get results from SEO.

Then the third gamble...Google makes pretty large changes to its SEO algorithm every year. What worked in 2010 isn’t necessarily what works now, and so you're constantly trying to work with all these changes every year.

You become a client of Google and it is in their best interest that you get results so you keep using the platform. You can find out quickly what works and adjust from there.

Don’t get stuck on what’s “free”. Get focused on what's effective.

Now does that mean I ignore SEO entirely? Not at all, there are specific uses for it, and there are plenty of therapists who get results with it. 

But if you're looking to fill your caseload quickly, then there are better options available.
