2. Man commits to wearing Hard Rock Café shirts for a year to raise funds for kids' guitars?

?? Matt Houchin is spending 2024 making a fashion statement by exclusively wearing Hard Rock Café shirts, but not just because he likes them. He’s also trying to raise $1 million to buy guitars for kids.

Houchin thought he shouldn’t just wear the shirts for no reason, and instead should help a charity. That charity needed to tie into the Hard Rock theme, so?Free Guitars 4 Kids?(FG4K) made sense.

“Kids are so addicted to their screens these days so I want to get screens out of kids’ hands and guitars into them,” Houchin said of his charity that?partners with local organizations.?

3. Fight to preserve Galloway School's historic Gresham Building gains momentum

?? An alumni movement to halt the demolition of the historic Gresham Building at Buckhead's Galloway School has gained traction since its creation in November. Preservation supporters have gathered over a thousand petition signatures, but the school’s plan to raze the building has yet to change.

In October, the school announced a plan to demolish the 112-year-old former Fulton County Almshouse and replace it with a new building twice its size. The building at 215 Chastain Park Ave. was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014 by the school itself, but the status doesn’t protect it from demolition.

4. Georgia small breweries disappointed in efforts to change century-old regulations ?

?? There’s a consistent hum of machinery in the background and a whiff of paint in the air as Beau Neal, owner of?Chattabrewchee Southern Brewhouse, places labels on freshly canned beer for his six-packs.

He’s invested a significant amount of his own capital into his business to keep things afloat, but Chattabrewchee’s struggles during this economic climate isn’t unique among Georgia breweries. Amid closures, many brewers feel reforms to a century-old system in the state could help ease their financial burdens.

But efforts led by the Georgia Craft Brewers Guild to pass?Senate Bill 163, aimed at providing flexibility from regulations, stalled when the bill failed to advance out of the state’s Senate Regulated Industries & Utilities Committee.
