Anderson Travel reduces a quarter tonne of CO2 in a month using solar panels

Unlock the potential of CIGS solar technology and turn sustainability into profitability
Anderson Travel saves around 100 litres of diesel and almost a quarter of a tonne of CO2 in the first month with their solar-equipped buses
With years of tradition and tomorrow’s ambitions, Anderson Travel runs buses that are always full and tours that are always booked. But driven by a commitment to sustainability, the company has embraced solar solutions. These not only align with their goal of reducing their carbon footprint, but also provide strategic benefits by reducing fuel and maintenance costs.
Among London’s iconic Routemasters and black cabs, Anderson Travel stands out. From humble beginnings, with Mark Anderson, director and owner, personally driving passengers in his first bus, the company has grown to an impressive fleet of 40 buses. Today, they carry 1 million passengers a year, and play a crucial role in London’s busy transport network.
London goes Green
As London moves towards a greener future with initiatives like the Ultra-Low Emission Zone (ULEZ), Anderson Travel is also shifting gears to be at the forefront of this environmental revolution. All vehicles in Anderson Travel’s fleet meet ULEZ and Euro 6 standards to ensure minimal particulate emissions. Meeting these standards is not just a legal obligation for Anderson Travel; it’s a commitment to sustainability.
When Mark was presented with a solar solution that not only fit the company’s goal of reducing its carbon footprint, but also provided strategic benefits by reducing fuel and maintenance costs, he was on board.
Our vehicles are full and busy every single day, and there’s not much I can do to generate extra revenue. Therefore we are very much focused on cost savings at the moment, and we really believe, with the presentation that Green Energy have done, that we are in a position now to make significant savings.
-says Mark Anderson, director and owner of Anderson Travel.

Renewable energy for electronic devices
Anderson Travel has installed solar solutions on two of their buses, including one of their coaches used for exclusive transport of athletes and sports groups. This bus is fully equipped with all essential before and after match facilities, from Wi-Fi, on-board toilet, USB charging points, TVs with USB ports, full air conditioning, on-board catering/kitchen, microwave, drink making facilities, refrigerator, etc. All of which can now be powered by renewable solar energy.
Significant fuel savings and CO2 reductions
By using the charge controller with an IoT solution, it is possible to monitor solar production, diesel savings and CO2 reduction and provide accurate data. After the first month of installation, the solar solution has already shown significant savings; Mark Anderson has saved 100 litres of diesel and almost quarter tonne of CO2. These numbers show that CIGS solar panels make environmental and economic sense for every kilometre they drive.
