The ancient system that stops your business from succeeding.

There’s an ancient system that is working to secretly prevent your business from succeeding.
I’m not talking about a conspiracy theory or a secret society. I’m talking about the limbic system – in particular the hippocampus.
The limbic system is a filter. When you’re sitting on the tube and hundreds of strangers are sitting around you, this system filters them out and makes them almost invisible to your conscious mind. If you didn’t have this system you’d feel compelled to connect personally with every stranger in your carriage!
If you don’t know someone, your brain mostly just filters them out. This filter is killing your business and your marketing messages. Your potential customers filter away your ads, your emails, your sales calls. They don’t know you well, so they don’t notice you.
There are only 5 people that can get past this filter:
- Someone scary.
- Someone sexy.
- Someone strange.
- Someone giving away something valuable for free.
- Someone we already know – a friend.
The first three are of no use to you as an entrepreneur. You don’t want to be seen as scary, sexy or strange (mostly strange people act upon the sexy cues).
The ones that are of interest to you as a business leader are being noticed for giving something of value for free and eventually becoming known. These two are closely linked: people who consistently offer lots of value – without asking for anything in return – quickly become liked and remembered.
So here’s my challenge to you... Give away more value for free. Share your ideas, your stories, your insights, your research. Share it generously, then watch what happens.
If what you are giving is genuinely valuable, you'll go straight bast that ancient filtering system and into the awareness of the people you want to serve. If you do that enough, people will see you as someone they know, like and trust - a friendly face or even better, a key person of influence.

Brilliant insights - makes me feel good because I’ve always done this - I was told I was naive and there’s a cynical response - such as WTF - are you for real - followed by rejection. I’d be interested in hearing more
