Ancient Philosophies for a New Year of Hope !

Every site I visit and every magazine I pick up this year is buzzing with talk of new disruptions. Analysts are sharing trends like synthetic humans, quantum computing, and AI agents setting up dates. Deep down, there's a lingering pain of uncertainty and a question: can I endure the changes life is throwing at us?

Luckily, it's a sunny day here in Louisville, and I decided to indulge in my favorite routine—a walk in the nearby park. As usual, I tuned into my subscriptions and found myself listening to a Master Class by Ryan Holiday on "Using Ancient Wisdom to Solve Modern Problems." With the fear of uncertainty gnawing at me, I was intrigued.

Ryan shared a story from the book of the famous philosopher Marcus Aurelius. He wrote about talking to himself, not wanting to get out of bed in the morning because it was warm under the covers. It felt like someone had read my mind on those cold mornings, and suddenly, the centuries of gaps dissolved. I realized someone had felt the same way I did today.

Ryan also discussed Socrates' philosophy of "No one is wrong on purpose," which gave me clarity on the numerous predictions online. Everyone is right with the information they have at the time of sharing it. He mentioned other famous philosophers like Aristotle, who also faced uncertain and challenging times. There were years when Rome had five kings, and other places experienced similar disruptions. Though we now call it the Golden Period, every age was challenging for those living through it.

This gave me confidence and comfort. We, as humans, have endured uncertainties and always walked through to the light at the end of the tunnel. As they say, "If we cannot control the weather, we can control the clothes we wear." We have been doing this for centuries, and we will do it again.
