An Ancient Greek Recipe for Happiness

?Behold, the great Epicurus! Your ancient Greek philosopher for the day. And what does he have to say for himself? Just an ancient recipe for happiness that’s all.

Apparently, the Epicurian formula isn’t all that complicated. According to Epicurus, there are only three ingredients needed for a happy life. Yep, just three but the catch is, you gotta have all three. Here they are:

The Three Components to Happiness:

  1. Friendship - having healthy and close relations with people you love. Having people to share your life with.
  2. Freedom - This is also known as autonomy, having the freedom to control what you do and how you do it. People that have this said autonomy at their job are far more satisfied with their job.
  3. Time - Not just time itself but time for ourselves. Time for introspection and contemplation. Time to relax and just be in the present moment.

Now, this might not be the formula that will cure everyone’s unhappiness, but it’s a good start. Did you notice that having a lot of money isn’t on the list?
