The Anatomy of a Strategy

The Anatomy of a Strategy

In this inaugural episode of our new podcast, Anatomy of a Strategy, Carlos and I build upon my recent video on short term tactics, how the number of marketing channels are infinite and growing, and how it's easier than ever for individuals and companies to buy ads themselves making the competition even more fierce.

With all of this noise, we talk about how it hasn't discouraged tactical thinking. Just because you can buy Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin or Google Ads doesn’t mean you should!

We cover some fun historical factoids about marketing:

  • The earliest recorded use of spam was 1864 and was over the telegraph
  • Radio advertising (the first multimedia ads) debuted in 1922
  • The first recorded use of television advertising was in 1941
  • Telemarketing emerged in the 1950s
  • And the 1980's gave birth to the ever-exciting database marketing (CRM + direct mail!)
