The anatomy of a LinkedIn post

The anatomy of a LinkedIn post

  • Person posts a statement / question /gripe or complaint on LinkedIn
  • Typically people who are closest to the Original Poster respond first with short “I agree” posts.
  • Post then reaches out to 2nd and 3rd tier connections who during lunch have a little time to pen a response, typically a different take on OP’s original question or statement geared towards developing a conversation, changing opinions and maybe have their opinion challenged.
  • OP chips in with something along the lines of, “if you don’t agree why post” whilst spectacularly missing the well thought out response or responding to the developing conversation
  • 2nd or 3rd tier person tries to explain why they said what they said and develop the conversation further.
  • OP, takes offence as all of a sudden someone they don’t know has invaded their thread, thus privacy and clearly has a different view, how very dare they
  • Op Ignores any constructive comments only responding to people who type “I agree” as to somehow use, “look all these people agree with me”, whilst still managing to avoid talking about the points raised as some form of validation to their argument, statement or position.
  • Less people agree as those who don’t know OP chip in further with their experience and the thread takes a turn for the worst as more people take offence where none was intended. Offence can be caused by having a different opinion apparently.
  • OP has a final response that will state something about being far too busy and important to reply to any of the points raised in the conversation that they started.
  • OP deletes post.

Merely Eccentric in a World Gone Mad

So, where does my typical snarky application of cynicism and/or reason come in? I'd think it'd be during the 2nd or 3rd tier phase, but I've had an awful lot of situations where my comment comes shortly before the post gets deleted, so I'm not sure...
