Anastasiades: Cyprus one of Jordan’s EU ambassadors.

President Nicos Anastasiades on Wednesday told the King of Jordan that he can consider Cyprus as one of his ambassadors in the EU.

The President who had a meeting in Amman with King Abdullah II also said:  “Jordan can count on our support in the efforts to effectively manage the deepening humanitarian refugee crisis.”

He added: “We stand ready to convey at tomorrow’s informal European Summit, to be held in Malta, Jordan’s important views and positions as regards this issue.”

Jordan today provides shelter and adequate living conditions to more than 1,2 million refugees.

“I want to assure you that Jordan has a special place both in our hearts as well as in our external policy,” Anastasiades also said.

Welcoming the President and the Cypriot delegation, the King spoke of the “tremendously warm relations” between the two countries which celebrate 53 years of relations.

“This is a relationship we cherish with tremendous pride,” the King added before commending the tremendous support Cyprus, as a member of the EU, has provided Jordan with.

“The relationship has been fantastic…we would like to see the opportunities of how we can obviously strengthen our economic relations as friends and as brothers and sisters. This is warm and family relationship that we are all treasuring.”
