Anarchic August

Hi Everyone, I'm so glad it's a new month as August was absolutely crazy! We've been working on two very complex and messy projects that just never seemed to end, but, finally on Thursday and Friday both were returned cleaned, classified and organised to their owners.

There were a lot of late nights and weekends worked, but we got there. I really feel like I climbed a mountain with this one, and made it down the other side.

I haven't spent quite as much time as I would have liked on Samification , but that does not mean that things are coming along very nicely...

The website is prepped, the tool has been built, and very soon some of the biggest companies in the world will be testing Samification to make sure it's ready for use when we launch in mid-October and let it loose into the wild!

It's looking so good and I'll be sharing more images and videos in the coming weeks. But of course it's substance that matters most, and the quality of the normalisation is really good too. There's no fancy AI, GenAI or magic, here, we have a master list, some very carefully selected rules and and team who refine and clean the list in the background. So the first time you normalise your file, it will be good, but you get a free re-run to use later, so if you come back in a month and re-run your file, it will be even cleaner. Sounds great right? We will manage, clean and curate the data to make sure it holds up to our very high standards, you get the best of both worlds, tech AND people!

WHAT'S BEEN GOING ON?

Well, mostly it's been hard work cleaning dirty data this last month, but I did find some time to have some fun with Olympic memes...

I had a great time speaking to Mirko Peters, Co-Founder of Data & Analytics about how to manage and improve your data quality for great results.

What did he ask? Well, many things including:

What are the 3 most common mistakes with dirty data? I said...

1?? Typos and spellings mistakes create so many versions of the same thing, and creates companies that don't actually exist. It is so messy and time consuming.

2?? After that, missing information is very prevalent and causes confusion. This could be missing address information, so you can't post to them.

3?? Then formatting, this is important when working globally - take dates for example 09/08, is it 9th August or 8th September?!

I did also manage to make it out of the office one day, and had a wonderful catchup with two amazing women in data - Heather Wade and Tia Cheang . Having an amazing network of women like this is so very special, and it needs to be nurtured. So get out there and get socialising!
