Anand Mahindra has committed over Rs 500 crore to propel the growth of Mahindra University. The Chairman of the Mahindra Group, along with his family, has also pledged an additional Rs 50 crore for the Indira Mahindra School of Education.

This substantial investment, to be spread over the next five years from FY25 to FY29, aims to introduce new disciplines and elevate the university to a center of excellence. The Indira Mahindra School of Education, named in honor of Anand Mahindra's mother, seeks to excel in educational research, practice, and innovations.

In a statement to PTI, Mahindra emphasized the university's rapid progress under Vice-Chancellor Yajulu Medury's leadership and outlined plans to enhance quality, faculty, and facilities across various colleges. He committed Rs 500 crore to this endeavor over five years, with an initial allocation of Rs 100 crore for the current year.

Additionally, Rs 50 crore has been earmarked for the Mahindra School of Education. Mahindra University, founded in May 2020 under the vision of Vineet Nayar, currently offers 35 programs across five schools and four centers. Two new schools, including the School of Hospitality Management, are slated to launch in 2024-25.

Mahindra highlighted upcoming initiatives such as a School of Liberal Arts and the expansion of the School of Hospitality. With over 4,100 students enrolled, Mahindra University has forged partnerships with global academic institutions for curriculum development, student exchange, faculty collaboration, and research endeavors.

This commitment of Rs 550 crore underscores Anand Mahindra's dedication to educational initiatives in India, building upon his support for institutions like Mahindra United World College India and Mahindra International School. His contributions also extend to programs like the Nanhi Kali initiative, Naandi Foundation, and The Rise Fund, demonstrating a holistic approach to empowering education and sustainable development.
