AnalystX May update
End of May update
We are all undoubtedly giddy with excitement and optimism as we think back on the Strategic Partners Away Day that took place on May 16, 2023. The event, which was hosted by Google Cloud (a big shout out to Paul Reid and his team ), was a striking example of the value of teamwork and the fusion of ideas.
The panel discussion John O’Connell MA FBCS CHCIO Ming Tang Matt Hennessey Ruth Holland ZhiQian Huang Gurpreet Singh MD MBA Filipe Gracio, PhD , which established the tone for the day, was when the event achieved its pinnacle. Leading leaders in the tech sector engaged in a lively and thought-provoking discussion, and each panellist offered something special. It demonstrated the dynamism, adaptability, and inclusion that the idea of communities of practise itself embodies. It was an unvarnished, unscripted deep-dive into the power of collective wisdom. This scholarly "jam session" demonstrated the alchemical process that turns collective wisdom into tactical gold. We are so grateful to the panel members for being able to take the time out to be with us.
The emphasis on the interaction between individual competency and communal knowledge was one of the key ideas that really resonated with me. A community of practice's core purpose is to foster a symbiotic relationship between the person and the community, not just to accumulate expertise. I wholeheartedly concur with the panel's emphasis on the need of this well-balanced approach.
The panel discussion also highlighted the importance of communities of practise as a source of innovation. It is possible to incubate new concepts, solutions, and strategies when ideas from various experiences, abilities, and viewpoints collide. It emphasised the crucial part that these communities play in maximising an organization's capacity for innovation, which is a realisation that we can't afford to ignore as we lead with data and analytics. The panel discussion was a prime illustration of the need of bringing different viewpoints together, demonstrating how invention flourishes when mental barriers are removed and brains are brought together. In essence, it acted as a real-world example of the effectiveness of communities of practise, and I must commend Google Cloud for laying the groundwork for the day with such a strong and motivating message.
Folk immensely enjoyed the speed dating session to learn how they can best support the communities of practice and we had an immersive session co-developing our roadmap of things to do over the next year (more to be shared on this next month). Finally we discussed the need for a board to ensure AnalystX continues to celebrate the plurality of pan-organisation leadership (again we will share more in due course).
The Strategic Partners Away Day was a resounding success, to sum up. It emphasised the value of shared learning, the strength of collaboration, and the endless opportunities that result from the fusion of ideas. The knowledge gained from this day, as pioneers in data and analytics, will definitely assist direct our strategic efforts, encourage cooperation, and spark innovation among our teams and wider communities. I'm eager to share these revelations with our own community of practise because this event served as a poignant reminder of the organisational frontier we are all pursuing.
Recognising that effective change doesn't come from the top-down, but rather from actively involved, self-forming communities, is essential in the effort to improve the NHS. The problems at hand are numerous and complicated, necessitating in-depth analysis from a wide range of viewpoints, including those of clinicians, managers, and patients. These professional networks could provide ground-breaking solutions that tackle the root causes of the issues the NHS is facing by exchanging experiences, obstacles, and ideas. This bottom-up strategy, propelled by active engagement, is a crucial component of lasting transformation.
In this regard, AnalystX serves as a model for similar projects and a glimmer of optimism. AnalystX is a leader in the field of data-driven problem-solving, with a community of over 20,000 data professionals and analysts. Its members' combined wisdom, who bring a wealth of varied experience and expertise to the table, is what gives it its strength. It exemplifies the power of a community of practise in the truest sense by placing a focus on collaboration, shared learning, and creativity. AnalystX is still committed to fostering an atmosphere where opportunities and ideas collide and a culture of cooperation and creativity. This vibrant community offers as an example of how a committed team of professionals can work together to challenge norms, develop strategies, and foster transformation—all of which are essential to solving the difficulties the NHS faces. By illuminating the way ahead with its accomplishments, AnalystX shows how leveraging the power of communities of practise can result in significant change in even the most complicated systems.

Data Saving Lives : Celebrating One Year by Snowflake
15th June marks the first anniversary of?Data Saves Lives: Reshaping Health And Social Care With Data?which – a pivotal policy document which will impact on how the NHS will work with data. Data Saving Lives celebrates some of the recent data programmes from across the NHS pre and post publication of this very important document.
Hear from the CTO of OneLondon about the Shared Care Record and Pathfinder programmes and what is next. We have invited colleagues from Francis Crick to discuss how developments in health and life sciences can support the NHS. As we know one of the biggest challenges with having data and technology at the heart of patient care is the challenge of “adoption”. Hear experts from North West London ICB and NHS England on how they have managed the adoption programmes of data products.
Snowflake will be presenting the Snowflake journey together with our technology partners who can help organisations become more data-driven to improve health and social care.
