The 3rd Leading Cause of Death in the US is: Medical Error.

#amwriting #TheRebelPatient

Am writing The Rebel Patient, on patient safety and healthcare. Women's health seems to highlight many of the problems with medical error, which is now the 3rd leading cause of death in the US. Only heart disease and cancer topped medical error, which for the first time exceeded pulmonary problems.

The BMJ published the facts in 2016, and one can find a 12 minute audio SoundCloud interview of the author, Martin A. Mackary here.

There are plenty of additional facts that are rather startling, but this is a Rapid Communication to let you know that you need to get a diagnosis if you know you are sick. There are many strategies you can use to empower you as a patient. And best of all, you can learn how doctors think and actually help her to get your diagnosis.

One key point to know is that all those medical questions your doctor(s) ask: they are there to hone in and extract your diagnosis. This helps the doctor to do what is called, a "directed" physical exam. The History and Physical are the keys to getting a correct diagnosis.

And yes, it's not just about 'getting a diagnosis.' It's also about getting the correct diagnosis. That's another common error: misdiagnosis.

All of this will be detailed with many examples, but you'll have to get the book. Pre-orders are now available, as a BE HAPPY BUNDLE for $ 0.99.

My book is featured with the motivational Soundtrack, I Am The Storm, and the accompanying success story of Selim Yeniceri's Dream Tiger book.

Two books and one soundtrack ought to get you started off on a better foot. Please Share with those who have chronic illness, the disabled, those after traumatic injury, and of course, your parents and sisters (much is included on women's health).
