Industry News

No matter what happens in the United States, you can always expect infrastructure to need updates, new building being built, and all kinds of construction projects in between.

This means that we never run out of things to talk about here in the iindustry news section.

Let's get started.

Nationwide

While roadways get a lot of the infrastructure attention, railways play just as vital of a role when it comes to transportation in this country. Especially for transporting all kinds of goods to their destinations.

With this in mind, the United States Department of Transportation's Federal Railroad Administration has announced a massive sum into railway investment. The $2.4 Billion will go to 41 states as well as Washington D.C marking the most significant investment into rail in 50 years.

Texas

Here in the Lone Star State, Austin's main interstate is getting a massive upgrade as ground is broken on the I-35 Capital Express Central Project. The $4.5 billion project is expected to be completed by 2032. The project aims to lighten the traffic in the area while also lowering the highway to allow for green spaces built over the top of the highway that should help link East Austin to West Austin.

Elsewhere in Texas, downtown Fort Worth is experiencing a massive boom in construction to the tune of $1 billion in development. New projects include improvements to the Texas A&M-Fort Worth Campus as well as renovations of the Fort Worth Convention Center.

Georgia

Over in Georgia, $65 million of the aforementioned USDOT railway investment will be going towards projects in the Peach State. Three different projects are currently slated to receive funding, including $26.5 million towards the development of rail improvements in Brunswick.

Elsewhere in Georgia, Dougherty County is receiving $33 million for the construction of a bridge over Oglethorpe Boulevard. The investment marks the largest of the allocations for 23 construction projects in the state.

Florida

The Sunshine State is still recovering from the impact of Hurrican Helene, including Tropicana Field - the home of the Tampa Bay Rays. The St. Petersburg City Council has approved $6.5 million to go towards repairs of the iconic venue. The construction projects will also include improvements and additional waterproofing.

To the northeast, Orlando is seeing a massive uptick in health care construction, with $1.3 billion going towards projects in the area. AdventHealth, Nemours Children's Health, and more are included among the projects looking to build a robust health care backbone in Central Florida.

North Carolina

Like Georgia, North Carolina is among the states receiving railway infrastructure funding courtesy of the USDOT. North Carolina's investment comes in the form of $105 million grant aimed at improving both passenger and freight rail services.

In Fayetteville, NC ground has been broken on the Crown Event Center, set to open in spring of 2027. The $145 million project will see the Crown Event Center replace the existing Crown Theatre and Arena and host events ranging from concerts to conventions.

South Carolina

North Carolina's southern neighbor is seeing a massive expansion in Spartanburg County, SC as the BENTELER Automotive Corporation pours $47.9 million into building improvements for its facility in the area. The building improvements and construction should also help to provide more jobs in the area.
