Industry News
The summer construction boom continues as projects are being worked on all around the country. It seems like new infrastructure alotments are being produced daily with the continuous pressing needs for updates, improvements, and expansions happening from coast to coast. Let's dive in to some of the biggest stories happening here in the United States.
Nationwide
Among the hottest topics in construction is beyond is invigorated interest in high speed rail. A line linking San Francisco to Los Angeles has been planned since 2008 but construction delays haven't dulled the interest in the multi-billion dollar project. Proposals in Texas also sit at the forefront of interest in high-speed rail as a line linking Dallas to Houston appears to have significant interest and could result in another multi-billion dollar project.
Texas
Sticking with Dallas, the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center broke ground on expansion recently. The $3.7 billion dollar project looks to revitalize a big piece of Downtown Dallas and provide a boost to the economy of one of the largest cities in Texas.
Down in Austin, the Wishbone Bridge recently began construction. The pedestrian bridge aims to add walking trails and a plaza at the state capital's Lady Bird Lake. The $25 million project currently has an estimated timeline of 18 months though that is subject to change depending on weather conditions.
Tennessee
The Volunteer State is set to receive a boost for their construction budget in the form of a recently passed defense appropriation. With nearly $31.7 million set to come in, the outlays inclide Arnold Air Force Base and 164th Airlift Wing at Memphis International Airport.
While Neyland Stadium may be the heart of Knoxville sports, another Knoxville Stadium has reached a milestone in its construction. A $114 million multiuse stadium is set to open next year as all stadium roofing has now been installed and 80 percent of the concrete for the terraced seating section has now been poured.
North Carolina
To the west in North Carolina, construction has begun on Greene Central High School. Earlier this year, the project received a $12 million grant to supplement construction of the new building for the high school that was originally built in 1961. The goal is to complete construction by the 2026-27 school year.
In Wilmington, environmental and design work has begun on a $23 million project for the Wilmington Port that hopes to improve loading and offloading capabilities. Rail is also a big part of the objectives as the North Carolina Port Authority hopes to reduce bottlenecking and emissions from cargo trucks.
South Carolina
After many years, Hilton Head has agreed to a plan to reduce commuting problems on U.S. 278. The project, which authorities hope to begin construction on next year, has an estimated cost of $460 to $480 million.
South Carolina's Midlands Connection Project is closing in on the completion of the construction phase on a 16-mile piece of Interstate 26. The project, which includes roadway widening, overpass bridge replacement, interchange improvements, weigh station enhancements, and noise barriers is set to be complete in December of this year.
Virginia
Construction on Virginia's 495 Express Lanes Northern Extension continues to roll on as the 495 express lanes are set to open in late 2025. The Virginia Department of Transportation is coordinating with Maryland on this massive undertaking.
Construction has begun on a massive offshore wind farm off the coast of Virginia Beach. The $9.8 billion Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind project is set to provide jobs and clean energy after being completed in 2026.
Florida
After years of construction, Florida's I-4 Ultimate highway infrastructure project is now complete. The largest highway infrastrastructure project in Florida's history had an estimated cost of $2.3 billion.
Georgia
The I-285/I-20 East Interchange project continues to hum along as the Georgia Department of Transportation aims to decrease congestion at a critical junction of the Atlanta Metro Area. The $691.7 million dollar project is currently set for a 2027 completion date.
In Dublin, Georgia, the U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded a $1.5 million grant to the city. With the money, Dublin hopes to improve sidewalks and roads in the Scottsville, Southside Dublin, and Stubbs neighborhoods areas.

We have plenty of extremely hot roles on the docket for the Sunshine State this week. We'll start off in Central Florida with a multifamily woodframing project manager position. We have multiple openings for this role so if you'd like to learn more about it, we highly encourage you to reach out. Sticking in Central Florida, we're also on the hunt for a wastewater project manager at $150,000, site development estimators at $130,000, and heavy civil engineers at $95,000.
Elsewhere in the state, our currently hot roles include a utilities and earthwork estimator in West Palm Beach at $140,000 and a multifamily superintendent in the Sarasota area with both civil and woodraming experience for highly-rated contractors.
Carolinas
In Raleigh, North Carolina, our hottest search is for a senior estimator. This role will be in site development at $135,000.
Down in Greenville, South Carolina, Amundson Group is looking for a project manager and estimator. This role will also be on the site development side.
Georgia
As we detailed in the first edition of this newsletter back in May, Georgia has seen a huge boost in construction funding recently. Nowhere is this more obvious than in the Atlanta Metro area.
We have a plethora of openings in Atlanta including a heavy civil superintendent at $125,000, a heavy civil and site development estimator at $120,000, and a DOT Project Manager at $125,000. We're also on the hunt for an assistant project manager and project manager at $100,000 to $130,000 - once again in the heavy civil sector.
Finally, rounding out our searches for this edition of the newsletter, we're on the hunt for a wastewater project manager. This Atlanta opportunity comes in at $150,000.
Texas
Summer is heating up in the Lone Star State and so are our job opportunities. We have a trio of hot searches in the DFW Metroplex for this edition of the newsletter.
To kick things off, AG is on the hunt for a site surveyor in DFW at $85,000 to $110,000. For this one, your sector background can be flexible. We're also searching for a project manager and estimator at $120,000 to $170,000 with experience in large foundation work. Finally, we're also looking for a project manager or assistant project manager in private utilities. This DFW opportunity comes at $80,000 to $140,000.
