The AMSP offers free support for students transitioning to the next level of study this summer

It can be a trying time moving into a higher level of study, whether because of nerves, the anxiety of the unknown, or the feeling of imposter syndrome. What we have tried to do at the AMSP is create a range of resources and support young people's transition to a different level of study.

Transition from GCSE to Post-16 maths

As students prepare for their examinations, the question that comes to mind is what support is available over the summer to help them with this transition. We know that GCSE to level 3 study can be a big jump, and students might be concerned about what they are expected to know when they start. On our Transition to level 3 maths page, you will find a breadth of resources, including a range of courses to meet the needs of every student. So, whether it's going on to A level Mathematics, A level Further Mathematics, or Core Maths, they will find the support they need to succeed by bridging the gap between GCSE and post-16 courses.

“The Essential Skills resources are phenomenal. They cater for a wide range of student prior attainment and are interesting and engaging at each level. Our prospective students have really got stuck in!”

Transition from A level to University

There is a misconception that strong mathematical skills are not important if you are not studying post-16 maths or want to study Mathematics at university level. However, many courses beyond maths rely heavily on mathematical skills such as engineering or sciences. So even if students are not going on to study Mathematics in the new academic year, they may still benefit from some of the courses we offer, especially if they plan on studying a STEM subject at university. For this reason, our transition to university course caters not just to those going on to study maths but for those going on to study STEM or a closely related subject.

“I feel that the resources offered have made me more confident and prepared when going to university.”
?“This course has boosted my confidence and belief in myself, putting me in a comfortable spot at university.”

Here at the AMSP, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to achieve their dreams, and for that reason, all of the transition packages are offered free of charge to all students in schools and colleges registered with the AMSP.
