AMS-IX in 2024: Building a Resilient Future Together

As we close the quarter, I'm thinking about my last post. We knew when the year started that 2024 would be a year of listening, learning, and adapting. While the world's geopolitics is causing us to grow sooner than planned, we owe it to our members and customers to become stronger and more resilient than ever. AMS-IX's mission is not to follow but to lead.?

Evolving With the Times

The AMS-IX team has been involved in discussions with the public and private sectors over the last few weeks, exploring the trends shaping the next decade.? These are the top four trends that are emerging from our discussions:

1 - Generation Z: Shaping Our Digital Future

Generation Z, born between 1997 and 2012, set a new benchmark in digital expertise. Gen Z represents 40% of global consumers and demands authenticity, privacy, and ease in digital interactions. At AMS-IX, we want to see how their unique outlook will push us towards innovation. Their demand for confidentiality and authentic connections motivates us to improve our services, ensuring privacy, genuine engagement, and fluid digital experiences.

2 - Urbanization: Preparing Networks for Future Cities

Over 55% of the world's population resides in urban areas, which is expected to rise to 68% by 2050. This will be a new focus for AMS-IX as we also grow to support the needs of densely populated areas. We aim to provide scalable, resilient network solutions that back intelligent city projects, ensuring our urban infrastructure is ahead of future demands.

3 - Mobility and Connectivity: Ensuring Uninterrupted Connections

Today's world is all about being interconnected. With global Internet penetration of over 63%, robust digital infrastructure is more vital than ever. At AMS-IX, we're focused on building new services and embracing new technologies to ensure our customers have the best experience. We must be ready to serve a world constantly on the move and more connected than ever.

4 - Sustainability: Our Pledge for the Future

Sustainability is at the core of AMS-IX's decision-making process. Given that the climate crisis ranks as one of the top risks for the global economy, our commitment to sustainability is ethical and strategic. We are committed to minimizing our environmental impact, optimizing the use of our resources, and leading the development of sustainable digital infrastructure.

While there are more trends, these four require direct action and collaboration. For this reason and many others, we are so grateful for our network of partners. With them, we can share even more insights on what's shaping the world.?
