Amplifying Our Impact

Amplifying Our Impact

One of the reasons I chose to work for myself was to regain control over how I spend my time. Building community is important to me, whether it is supporting job seekers, startups, or other causes. By going independent, I have the flexibility to lend my time and energy where I feel I can have the most impact.

Last night, I was a volunteer at TechBridge, Inc ’s annual Digital Ball. TechBridge’s mission is to end generational poverty and it helps provide technology to nonprofits working on hunger relief, homeless support, social justice, and workforce development. The Digital Ball was an opportunity to promote and support that mission. Its theme was “powered by connection” and you’ll see no better example than through Atlanta’s IT community. Our community is well connected, and these connections can be seen at many different events and supporting many different causes. It was an honor to help TechBridge carry out a fun evening for its supporters.

Similarly, many of you know I joined the board of Atlanta ToolBank earlier this year. It is another non-profit who exists to support other Atlanta area non-profits by making sure they have the tools and equipment to carry out their missions. I will be volunteering at the Atlanta ToolBank’s upcoming “PAR-TEE Golf Outing” on September 10th (more details ).? If you would like to sponsor a team or support in other ways, they would greatly appreciate it. I’m sure it will be a fun event and look forward to seeing the community come out and have a great time.

I’m grateful for the ability to be able to support organizations such as these in the ways that I can. As I look at where I can help and make an impact, the theme is how can we amplify our own efforts by supporting organizations which in turn help other organizations be more successful. How can we take our community and its strength to amplify the voices and impact, not just of our efforts, but of so many others? How can we bring opportunities we enjoyed to those who are just starting out on their journeys?

If you’re interested in supporting these organizations or some more like them, let me know! If you’re already supporting jobseekers, students, startups, or others, share how you’re doing so, and we may have an opportunity to collaborate!
