Amplifying Black Voices For Black History Month

Amplifying Black Voices For Black History Month

Anyone else feel like time is flying by? I can't believe it will be nearly 6 months in my role with United and February is Black History Month, a time where we celebrate those before us and thank those here with us, all of which, who continue to make contributions and sacrifices to better the culture and community.

In my role, I oversee earned media for the company and the hubs that I oversee which are Houston and LAX in the interim. I knew that I wanted to be intentional and thoughtful with my media placements for Black History Month and felt that I accomplished that and truly offered our hub employee's a chance to share their truth in a unique way through print, TV and radio outlets.

“I mean, when you think about it, at some point, pretty much every job that I take nowadays, I’m the first Black man to be in that job. Chief Pilot Brian Jackson, Journalist Sarina Sandoval, LAX Managing Director Jonna Mcgrath, Corp Comms Manager Aubrey Jackson

Chief Pilot Brian Jackson was able to achieve his aviation dreams through the support of his family and mentors. He shared with ABC LA and Spectrum News 1 why representation matters... especially in the aviation industry!

Securing multiple placements for two hubs is no easy task. But I am always up for a challenge and worked hard to ensure that those who entrusted me with their story would be proud! I am so happy with the coverage and loved working with amazing journalists in Houston and Los Angeles to bring their stories to light.
