Amplifying BIWOC Voices: Why America Needs More Leaders Like Me!

With Joe Biden stepping down and Kamala Harris stepping up for the presidential race, the importance of diverse leadership has never been more evident. Let me tell you why America needs more leaders like me and how the DotConnectHer community empowers BIWOC business owners to drive innovation, economic growth, and equitable opportunities. The power of building a circular community ensures lasting impact and representation for future generations of women in business.

Why BIWOC Leadership Matters

When leadership becomes as homogenous as a bowl of melting vanilla ice cream, the scope of ideas and solutions remains limited. BIWOC leaders bring a myriad of lived experiences and unique perspectives that drive real innovation and creativity. This diversity is critical for solving complex problems with fresh, effective solutions...not for checking off boxes on DEI policies that are quickly collecting dust!

Representation Inspires Future Generations

Seeing leaders who look like us inspires women to see themselves in those roles. I remember meeting Jordan Gill online in my first year of business and will never forget that feeling of seeing a face that looked like mine. It didn't matter what she was selling, I was already sold! The minute I joined her business community I was blown away by seeing a screen filled with so many shades of melanin. Moments like that shatter psychological barriers and cultivate new generations of women ready to lead, innovate, and break boundaries! Our time is now.

Economic Empowerment

Women are pivotal to economic growth. Period! We control purchasing power, and we pour our profit into our children, community, and causes we're passionate about. According to the National Women’s Business Council, BIWOC-owned businesses are growing rapidly, yet we still face significant barriers. We find ourselves still trying to survive in life and business. We dream of work-life balance, yet find ourselves searching for a dream deferred. Elevating women's voices and equipping us with the resources we need helps our businesses thrive and strengthens the overall economy.

Creating Equitable Opportunities

BIWOC leaders understand the challenges faced by marginalized communities. My friend and coach, Celi Arias , a badass business growth strategist, empowers women to achieve unstoppable growth in their businesses without sacrificing their lives. Celi's changing the game of business for women because she knows what happens when success comes at the cost of your freedom, family, and well-being. BIWOC leadership can drive policies and initiatives that create more equitable opportunities in education, employment, and entrepreneurship.

The DotConnectHer Community

So, in light of these truths, I created the DotConnectHer community to elevate emerging BIWOC business leaders by providing a platform that amplifies their value, voice, and visibility. Thank you, Jordan and Celi, for motivating me to lead this movement! Here's what I've been working on:

Networking and Mentorship. DotConnectHer is intentionally connecting women with experienced mentors and peers, creating a robust support system inside our community. Strategic networking opportunities will open more doors to new partnerships and collaborations.

Resource Accessibility. We offer resources and tools tailored to the unique challenges faced by our community members. From self-paced courses to coworking and opportunities for more connection, DotConnectHer is emerging as a human-centered hub for personal growth and professional development.

Inclusivity and Representation. By advocating for ourselves and each other, DotConnectHer aims to drive systemic change. We share our stories and underscore the contributions of this community. Through our collective efforts, we are reshaping the business landscape to better reflect and celebrate the diversity that connects our communities, our economy, and our country.

Building Circular Community. Creating a circular community means fostering an ecosystem where members receive support and also give back, creating a self-sustaining cycle of growth and empowerment. This holistic approach ensures that every member, regardless of their stage in the business journey, can contribute to and benefit from the collective strength of the community.
