When we get stuck in our stumbling blocks, it can be easy to forget the power we hold. It’s especially true for us, the women who’ve climbed the ladders, shattered the glass ceilings, and navigated the tightropes of our careers. Our accolades have often been hard won, and there may be moments when we feel like "Who are we to say the thing?" We see the problems but can get caught looking around the room for someone else to initiate the change. (I've done it.)
I invite us to feel the fear, puke glitter, and say/do the thing anyway.
Because there is always room within our roles and titles (no matter how seemingly big or small) to advocate for others. (If not us, then who?) WE are the vessels for change, the cataysts for transformation, making whatever worlds we touch a better place.
Here are some thoughts to support our endeavors:
Turn Passion into Purpose
Whether you’ve been subtly or not so subtly weaving threads of change with every project you touch, every team you lead, and every goal you smash, it’s time to crank that dial up. Your career, with its roots in determination and its reach far beyond the meeting room, is a powerful tool for advocacy.
Start by aligning your passions with your purpose. Whether it’s championing for gender equality, pushing for sustainability, or advocating for mental health - let your passion fuel your mission. Remember, every email, every presentation, and yes, even those endless Zoom calls, can be a catalyst for conversation and change.
Build Bridges, Not Just Networks
Networking doesn’t have to be a soul-sucking endeavor of collecting contacts like baseball cards. Transform it into a quest for building bridges. Connect with like-minded warriors, forge alliances with those who share your vision, and create a coalition so strong that change isn’t just possible; it’s inevitable.
Your LinkedIn can be more than a resume; it can be a manifesto, a declaration of your commitment to blending career success with societal progress. Share stories of triumph and trial, amplify voices that echo your advocacy, and watch as your network becomes a garden of change-makers.

Be the Beacon
Leadership isn’t about titles; it’s about actions. Lead by example in your workplace. Start initiatives, no matter how small they might seem. Organize workshops, spearhead volunteer programs, or introduce policies that reflect your advocacy. Remember, every big revolution starts with a whisper, a spark, a single step forward.
Embrace your inner weirdo, the one who dares to dream of a better world, and let her lead the way. Your uniqueness is your strength, your guiding star in the sea of conformity. It’s what makes you, well, you, and it’s what will make your advocacy not just heard, but felt.
From Me to We
Never underestimate the power of the ripple effect. Your actions, your voice, and your leadership have the power to inspire, to motivate, and to mobilize. From ‘me’ to ‘we’, your career can be the stone cast into the waters of change, creating ripples that reach far beyond the confines of your immediate world.
So, to the badass women out there (who may not always feel so badass), the career-climbers, the hesitant leaders, the closet creatives, and the aspiring rule-breakers, I invite you to wield your careers like the wands of change they can be.
Your magick isn’t just meant for the boardrooms and the spreadsheets; it’s meant for the world. Let’s promise to keep it raw, keep it real, and sprinkle that sparkle everywhere we go. Because together, with our collective creativity, passion, and relentless pursuit of what’s right, we're not just dreaming of a better world, we're creating it.
Stay wild and fierce, my friend! Most importantly... stay YOU. This world needs all your glorious, unapologetic, world-changing magick if it's ever going to be something better today than it was yesterday.
xoxo,
