Amplify Employee Engagement?

For nonprofits and charities, one important element in building employee engagement experiences is ensuring they are meaningful, inspire generosity and drive positive change.?

If done right, these activities serve to connect employees emotionally to your cause, increasing the likelihood of continued support, while showcasing the real-world impact of giving. It can also lead to deeper, more sustainable relationships.?

Whether your charity is large or small it is ideal if the activity has a significant benefit to your work and is easy to scale. Be sure to define your goals, ensure there is an engaging activity, promote effectively and measure your success and impact.

Here are a couple of examples how global charities created impactful experiences:

  1. ChildFund International's "Trash to Treasure" program is a brilliant low-cost activity where employees created toys from discarded materials, much like children in resource-constrained communities. This simple, hands-on project can easily be replicated by smaller shops. It engaged employees creatively, raised awareness about global issues, and fostered empathy, without requiring significant financial resources.
  2. Mercy Corps' "From Climate Crisis to Climate Resilience" is a virtual engagement that shares the story of Lydia, a farmer in Kenya affected by climate change. Through interactive content and storytelling, employees experienced the real-world impact of climate change. This kind of virtual engagement could be scaled using accessible digital tools like Zoom or pre-recorded videos, providing an impactful experience at minimal cost.

Strong partnerships between charities and companies are built on shared goals and alignment. These kinds of initiatives align a non profit’s mission and company’s values, ultimately creating a more impactful, lasting and “sticky” collaboration.
