?? Amp it Up: Leading for Hypergrowth by Raising Expectations, Increasing Urgency, and Elevating Intensity by?Frank Slootman
?? This is an exceptionally well-written book and I recommend it to anyone who is at a start-up, in tech, and/or looking for inspirational leadership. To the point, practical, honest and transformative. The book is broken down into the following chapters:
1?? Amping Up
2?? Raise Your Standards
3?? Align Your People and Culture
4?? Sharpen Your Focus
5?? Pick Up the Pace
6?? Transform Your Strategy
7?? The Amped-up Leader
I took away many great points, and here’s a few: ??

??? There are drivers and there are passengers. Hire drivers, not passengers and get the wrong people off the bus. I’m 100% a driver and not a passenger, and it’s important to find out which one you are.
??? Great execution is rarer than great strategy. No strategy is better than its execution. It’s important to be very familiar with the parts of your company that will execute before implementing a strategy.
?? Customer success is everybody's business, not merely one department. Everyone's incentives should be fully aligned with what's good for the customer.
?? Culture matters more than you think. It can’t just be a poster on the wall, it has to come from the top down. And when you get it right, people will feel protective of the culture and call out deviations, at a peer to peer level.
?? Companies are like elevators: Some go up, some go down, some of them don’t move and there’s nothing you can do about it. Once you stepped into the elevator, you have surrendered yourself to the fortunes or lack thereof of the one you walked into. That choice is incredibly important. And often people have their priorities in reverse, where they’re focused on titles, pay, location, etc. whereas that’s not that important. Choose the right elevator.
