Learn from Revo Fitness Founder - Andrew Holder

Andrew is a calm and charismatic leader who showed true determination and grit to build the fitness empire that is Revo Fitness. By the end of 2024 they will have 50+ gyms around Australia. In this episode of Weird Growth Andrew talks about how to build a culture of excellence and how they built the smart member experience that Revo Members enjoy. His one big piece of advice -?Play for the right reasons. Put one foot in front of the other. Let go of the outcomes you want to achieve personally. SXSW - Is it worth it?

A message from Jack

Not long now until SXSW Sydney kicks off. The fantastic mix of music, film, TV, Culture, Arts, Startups and Technology make it one of the biggest events in the Southern Hemisphere.

Last year I ventured across to tick off a bucket-list item and see what the fuss was about.? The festival week was full of ups like mixing with the Community Collective/FKS crew and AfterWork legends; and a few downs like getting our car keys lost at the beach and watching Barry Koeghan hump dirt in the premier of Saltburn. Jokes aside the event is all about scale so if you are heading across this year my advice is be clever with your sessions, be open to spontaneous music in the beer gardens and just embrace the crazy week.

Launching art is so similar to the startup world. I loved listening to Charlie Brooker from Black Mirror with Julia Zemiro, Tesla Chairman Robyn Denholm and Que Minh Luu from Netflix.

Here's one grab from the many sets of notes I took when it came to building audience because hey isn't that what you are trying to do with your company?

Great content has rules of engagement when it comes to your audience:

  1. Respect their time - your competing with laundry, dishes and busy lives
  2. Give them an anchor - a family character, cast member or universal story
  3. Combine comfort and surprise - establish a relationship then shock

This year, Melanie Perkins from Canva, The Kid Laroi, Razor CEO Min-Liang Tan and Olympian Normie Fox would be my picks.
