AMMAN Leader's Talk: Finding the Leader in You

AMMAN’s President Director, Rachmat Makkasau, shared his personal and professional development over two decades in the recently held AMMAN Leader’s Talk. Over 100 AMMAN scholarship beneficiaries from West Sumbawa Regency participated in this virtual sharing session, organized as part of the company’s fifth anniversary.

"During the transition period from school to my early career, I did not have anyone telling me what to expect. Despite all challenges and adversities, we should prepare ourselves with patience and perseverance in building our careers. It is essential for us to develop our soft skills or emotional intelligence at work and balance it with our technical skills," explained Rachmat.

Rachmat quoted research by Harvard University that says 85% of job success comes from having well-developed soft skills and people skills. These skills include self-awareness, self-regulation, and empathy. Rachmat has held various roles and positions that has allowed him to cultivate his knowledge and experiences dealing with diverse circumstances and personality types, which led him to become the current version of a versatile leader.

Most of the scholarship beneficiaries attending the virtual sharing session are early career starters. These young people were chosen amongst hundreds of applicants for vocational scholarship programs designed by AMMAN. As one of Indonesia’s largest copper and gold mining companies operating in West Sumbawa Regency (KSB), AMMAN establishes vocational programs in hospitality, coding, design, and heavy machinery for youth as part of its social impact programs.

Around 35% of KSB's population are of the generation who will become the future leaders, instrumental for KSB's success. AMMAN's commitment aligns with Indonesia's continuous effort to cultivate Indonesian talents through vocational education to meet the labor market demands.
