Amitié cable system is live in Boston!

With great fanfare, the 6,800km cable system linking Boston, MA to Le Porge in France and Bude in the United Kingdom is now live!? The Amitié consortium comprises Meta , 微软 , Aqua Comms and Vodafone .? Orange owns 12 nautical miles (French territorial waters) portion of the system from the French coast, and is the landing party at the Le Porge landing station.? Edge USA (Meta's subsidiary) is the landing party at USA, landing at EXA Infrastructure 's cable landing station in Lynn, MA, which was previously built by 360networks for the Hibernia Atlantic System.

The Amitié cable system is a historic addition to the internet infrastructure in New England.? It adds a whopping 16-pair fibers, each with ~23Tbps of capacity, making it the highest capacity transoceanic cable to be ever deployed. Boston has now officially become a transit city for the global internet traffic.

Lay of the land in Boston

With the cable landing in Lynn, MA, FirstLight Fiber operates the most direct and fastest terrestrial fiber route linking the Lynn CLS to Somerville's Inner Belt, bringing the transoceanic capacity right into downtown Boston's connectivity ecosystem.?

Inner Belt is the most popular convenient choice for international network developments in Boston, due to its central proximity to downtown and shortest distance to the Lynn landing site, and presence of two inland data centers.? Upon arriving at Inner Belt, traffic can either hop onto downtown Boston's fiber optic loop to reach other facilities in the area, or go west to get to the rest of USA.

Seamless access to subsea cables at Inner Belt

CoreSite and Evocative 's two data centers in Inner Belt stand to benefit immensely from the deployment of the Amitié cable system.? Customers of these data centers can easily purchase transoceanic network capacity directly from AquaComm's AEC-3, just a cross connect away to instantly get to UK & France.

For colocation from these two closest inland data centers, check the below links:

Interconnection of long-haul and metro fibers at Inner Belt

TOWARDEX , through its wholly-owned subsidiary TWDX Infrastructure , operates the Hub Express System, the massive open-access conduit system and network of cable vaults powering telecommunications in Inner Belt.? The Hub Express System's underground facilities serve as a convenient nexus, providing the critical junction connectivity between the Lynn landing, Boston's terrestrial fibers, and two inland data centers situated in the area.

Turn-Key Network Solutions for International Network Deployments

With the livening of Amitié cable system, hyperscalers and international IP networks are now flocking to Inner Belt to establish their network gateways in Boston. ?In enabling these network deployments, TOWARDEX is providing both hyperscalers and international networks with our Turn-Key Network Infrastructure services across the Hub Express System. Our service enables these networks to seamlessly deploy their own private dark fiber cables to tie their Boston data centers, Lynn landing and long-haul fibers, altogether with minimal efforts.?

Customer convenience is at the forefront of our minds when it comes to enabling international network developments in Boston, and we've surely been busy!
