In response to President Trump’s attempts to remove immigrants, Brandon Johnson and his administration could address and promote the Know Your Rights campaign in Illinois.

Mayor Brandon Johnson launched the Know Your Rights initiative directed at undocumented immigrants on January 23, 2022, at Kennedy King College and revolves around public safety and protection. For public transportation, the campaign utilizes digital monitors with QR codes to disseminate information.

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker backed Johnson, stressing the efforts to stop deportation measures that the Trump administration tried to implement.

Sponsored by The Resurrection Project and the National Immigrant Justice Center, along with the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights, the campaign showcases Chicago's core principle of being a welcoming city, which is something that Chicago and Pritzker reiterated disapproval of the campaign.

The Illinois governor, Pritzker, who is openly against Trump, agreed with the previous remarks made during the event while pledging that Illinois will always fight for the rights of undocumented individuals.

In response to the threat posed by Trump regarding his ICE agents raiding schools, the CEO of Chicago Public School, Pedro Martinez, claimed that the agents need valid warrants and have to operate through their legal department to commence anything, which is pretty rare in such cases.

On January 24th, Hamline Elementary, located in Southside Chicago, was on a potential raid list by ICE agents. However, they were not permitted entry into the premises. Gates Stacy Davis confirmed the safety of all students and teachers present at the school, which made the event unprecedented.?
