AMES: Aerostructures Middle East Services solutions in constant evolution

For over 10 years, AMES has deployed a comprehensive range of expert Aerostructures services, covering both legacy and latest-generation products. Today, it continues to invest in the future so as to better serve the interests of operators in the Middle East and Africa (MEA).

By combining the mutually enriching expertise of an OEM (Safran Nacelles) and an Airline-MRO (AFI KLM E&M), over the years AMES has built up a catalog of Aerostructures services and capabilities adapted to the specific needs of operators The joint-venture is constantly investing in its industrial facilities in Dubai, in order to accommodate new-generation products or industrialize innovative new repair techniques for previous-generation components.

Cutting-edge industrial resources

At the beginning of 2020, AMES launched its preventative maintenance and repair service package dedicated to Fan Stator Modules (FSM) for GE90-115 engines. Around thirty FSMs have been processed since then in the new workshop built to accommodate AMES’ increased workflow on this product. Despite the health crisis, this dynamic of industrial development has continued at a steady pace so that certain key products can be handled in-house.

“During this period, we initiated the industrialization of new capabilities for the Inner Fix Structure (IFS) and beams of Trent 700 reversers. By investing in dedicated equipment and drawing upon our extensive expertise in metallic/composite materials, AMES is now among the handful of workshops in the world able to carry out those major parts replacements. We are now rising power in the maintenance of complex repair of LEAP-1A nacelles (A320neo),” explains Thierry Baud, Managing Director of AMES.

A major player in Aerostructures maintenance

While continuing to support the needs of operators through these new capabilities, AMES is pursuing the digitization of its operations which includes a new ERP project to be implemented before the end of 2022.

According to Thierry Baud, “the objective is clear: bolstering the solidity of our processes and, by extension, enhancing TAT performance levels for the benefit of our customers.”

With its diversified position, its triple MRO/Airline/OEM profile, and its ultra-modern industrial facilities, AMES is – now more than ever – a leading name in the Aerostructures market, and a go-to regional partner for airlines operating in Africa and the Middle East
