SBA announced a new memorandum of understanding this week with the Republic of India’s Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to strengthen the two countries’ joint work to promote MSME participation in the global marketplace. The agreement, signed by Administrator Isabel Casillas Guzman and the Indian Ministry for MSMEs in New Delhi is the SBA’s first such collaboration with India.

Administrator Isabel Casillas Guzman participated in the final White House Initiative on Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Economic Summit last week which was hosted by the University of California, Irvine. In recognition of Black Business Month, we are highlighting successful small business owners like Craig Charles of Crown Cutz Academy , which includes two barber schools in the Appalachian areas of Tennessee and Virginia. In 2017, Craig opened Crown Cutz Academy in Johnson City, Tennessee with help from his local Small Business Development Center , an SBA resource partner that provides counseling, training, and other services.

SBA and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs signed a memorandum of understanding to improve access to self-employment assistance and SBA training and counseling for active-duty service members and service-disabled veterans participating in the Veteran Readiness & Employment Program.
